Loved this radio. It is an Air Chief R1661-A and believe it is from 1937. It was not mine so I had to part with it when I was done. It showed up with all the parts there but someone before me tried to strip the finish off badly. Sanded across the grain instead of with and then just gave up. The new owner came along, bought it, and brang it to me to breath life into it. So I chemically stripped off the remaining finish and gently sanded out the cross grain sanding damage. Stained two tone and applied several fine coats of poly. Came out great with tons of polishing. I then got the chassis working and swapped out some weak tubes. It looked great, sounded amazing, and had amazing reception. The dial was brillant when lit. One real nice radio.
