1942 GE Console Model L915W This GE Console L915W radio is in unbelievable condition. Found by a fellow radio enthusiast in Massachusetts who has developed an eye for good buys. This GE was someone's pride and joy and it reflects it. It retains its original finish in remarkable shape along with the original instruction manual, sales tag, and station labels. Putting aside the fresh recapping of the chassis to make it safe again it is 99% original from factory and in amazing condition. I have done many GE 805 chassis and some similar chassis of this model radio but this is the first I have come across brass IF cans used, ever. (pictured below) I did some research and asked around why brass was used and the only reason that sounded reasonable was for better isolation of the IF windings. This leads me to believe this was a higher end model of this classic layout and unique because of the war effort at the time making brass and other precious metals scarce. It is not hard to believe that this radio also performs as well as it looks. Original Omni antenna is with cardboard casing is intact with no mold or holes. I believe this is how a radio would look if kept in a time capsule. An all around amazing radio. It comes with 30 day warrantee. Measures 29"x40"x13.5". Please call us with questions. 518-466-8673 or email us at info@thirdbayradios.com Good Points on radio I have done many similar GE 805 consoles and they have proven to be a great performing all around reliable radio. This one is very similar to the 805 and is no exception. This nine tube chassis was in great shape to begin with and did play with the original capacitors. Due to the age of the capacitors the chassis has been completely recapped and ready for another life time of use. The outer casing finish is in amazing shape with it's original finish from the factory. No veneer issues, sun bleaching, or major dings or scratches. The chassis is highly receptive with broadcast band(AM), and two HF bands that also perform well. This radio is perfect for collectors who want as original as possible but still functional. Bad Points on radio Smaller than a dime worn spot with finish right below preset push buttons.(see pictures) Only spot on radio. It actually adds to the patina. That is it. Pickup or delivery is available. Radio is located 15 minutes from Albany NY. Please e mail me any question. info@thirdbayradios.com $500.00 PLEASE NOTE DELIVERY COSTS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN PRICE ABOVE. NY STATE SALES TAX OF 8% WILL BE ADDED TO NY STATE RESIDENTS. |

I stand behind my work and have a 30 day warrantee on labor NOT PARTS. That means if it breaks in 30 days I will do my best to fix it but you pay for new parts and shipping costs. I do NOT think this is even needed. Please keep in mind this is a really old radio and does not sound or act like a modern radio. It is a show piece and should be treated as such. Keep it honest with me and I will do my best to please you. All sales are final. Thank you for your time. Home Service & Restoration Before & After Shop & Story Radio Gallery Favorite Links |
