Antique Emerson Table Top Radio model 581 1947
The ivory on ivory Plaskon cabinet is bright and glossy. The spring loaded unpainted ivory Bakelite retractable handle is in great shape and no cracks around mounting holes or on top of casing. The pearl control knobs match the casing. The gold pointer on the dial disk is in great shape. The five-tube AM only chassis plays excellent and just had a fresh recap and power cord. The original external antenna is still there rapped on original cardboard spool. See picture. Ready for another 70 years of use. The illuminated dial scale numerals are clean & crisp as is the Emerson logo. One really nice sounding and looking radio.
I give this radio 7 points out of 10 for case condition. For what it lacks in casing condition it makes up for in performance. I would state a 9 out of 10 for performance. Highly sensitive and gets more stations than the normal American 5. Really a good looking and great peforming unit. A good example of this model. 11"W x 7"H x 6"D.

Good Points on radio
Highly receptive and great look. Case still has good gloss coat to finish. Handle is in great shape along with no cracks near handle on top. Casing has great curve on top that does not come across in pictures. Gold emblem is in great shape along with pearl gloss knobs. Really a nice radio.
Bad Points on radio
The circular dial pointer is slightly warped from age. No back cover and one crack located under volume control knob. Can't normally see crack unless you lay radio on it's back. See photo.
